The Sky Between Us

The Sky Between Us is inspired by the artist's life near the Australian coastline, where the horizon often dissolves and the boundaries between sky and water quietly disappear. In this work, she explores this visual merging as a metaphor for emotional states that are equally intertwined — feelings that cannot be easily separated or named.

Bands of blues sweep across the canvas like shifting tides and drifting clouds, while gestures of green and earthy tones suggest the land holding space between them. The composition moves like a landscape seen in fragments — hills, inlets, and pathways — yet nothing is rigidly defined. Just as in nature, forms overlap, blur, and coexist.

The textured strokes and layered colours echo the rhythm of waves and wind, capturing both movement and stillness. Small marks and pathways hint at human presence within this vastness, reminding viewers that they are part of this meeting point between elements.

Through this painting, the artist reflects how, much like the sky and the sea, some emotions blend so deeply within us that they become inseparable — quietly shaping how we see, feel, and remember.
