Inspired by the vibrant spirit of Holi in the sacred city of Varanasi, this artwork celebrates colour as emotion, memory, and devotion. Rather than depicting a specific moment, Varanasi captures the feeling of the city during Holi — when architecture, river, and sky seem to dissolve into a shared rhythm of joy and renewal.

The clustered forms of temples, homes, and ghats rise in warm yellows, pinks, and earthy tones, echoing the powdered colours of Holi drifting through narrow lanes. The loose, expressive lines allow the city to breathe and sway, reflecting the playful chaos and spiritual unity that define the festival.

The river below holds bold blues and symbolic boat forms, suggesting movement, reflection, and the eternal flow of life. During Holi, the Ganges becomes not only a physical presence but a witness to celebration, cleansing, and transformation. The boats appear as quiet carriers of stories — of people, prayers, and passing moments.

Varanasi is a tribute to a place where spirituality and celebration coexist, where colour becomes a language of belonging. Through this painting, the artist invites the viewer to experience Varanasi not as a destination, but as an emotion — alive with colour, faith, and timeless energy.
