When Hearts Unite is inspired by the landscape around Alice Springs, translating the emotional impact of Central Australia into an abstract visual language of colour, rhythm, and movement.

In this large acrylic work, the artist does not attempt to depict the land literally. Instead, she conveys the feeling of standing within it — the heat rising from red earth, the vast quiet between distant ranges, the dry riverbeds carving pathways through time, and the unexpected presence of resilient trees. These elements appear as interlocking shapes and flowing lines, like fragments of terrain remembered rather than seen.

Dominant reds and warm ochres speak of the earth's intensity, while passages of blue and soft tones suggest open sky and distant horizons. Meandering marks echo creek beds and travel routes, symbolising connection across an expansive and ancient land. Repeated tree-like forms hint at life persisting gently within a powerful environment.

Through layered colour and expressive mark-making, the painting reflects a deeper idea: just as landforms, sky, and pathways converge in this landscape, emotions, memories, and experiences within us also come together. The work becomes a meditation on unity — between place and person, memory and moment, heart and horizon.
